A first edition - first printing of Volume 2 of "The Letters of Virginia Woolf", published by The Hogarth Press in 1976. ***Near fine in sea-green cloth-covered boards with gilt titles to the spine. The gilt is still beautifully bright. The boards…are clean and unmarked. Head and tail of spine just slightly creased. No other bumps or creases. Corners sharp. No reading lean to the binding. No reading creases to the spine. Spine tight. Page block edges clean with just light foxing to the top edge (see scans). Internally also near fine with no inscriptions. Pages clean with no foxing. No creases or tears. The paper used for this production is thin but of a nice quality. ***In a near fine illustrated dustwrapper, which retains the original publisher's printed price of £9.50 net. The dustwrapper is complete with no obvious faults. No chips or tears. Very light creasing to the extremities, mainly to the top and tail of the spine, Some light browning to the spine, but none of the usual fading to the delicate mauve colour. Dustwrapper bright. ***242mm x 160mm. 627 pages including an extremely detailed 25pp Index at the back of the book. ***First printing of the true first edition in near fine condition. A Proof Copy of the first edition of Volume 4 of "The Letters of Virginia Woolf", which was published by The Hogarth Press in 1978. When published, the Letters were numbered 1-6 rather than using Roman numerals. With eight pages of monochrome photographic pla…tes. ***Very good in pale pink paper covers with black titles on the front cover, but none on the spine. The covers have some fading to the delicate colour at the edges and on the spine. There is a small stain at the fore edge of the front cover. The top and bottom outer corners of the page block are bumped which has affected the interior pages with light creases. No reading lean to the binding. Light reading creases to the spine. Spine tight. Page block edges clean with no foxing (please see scans). Internally also very good with no inscriptions. Pages clean with no foxing. Outer corner tips creased as mentioned. The paper used for this production is thin but of a nice quality. No dustwrapper. ***235mm x 155mm. 425 pages without the Index at the back of the book which was present in the published version. ***A Proof Copy of the first printing of the true first edition in very good condition.
