Trade Paperback. Condition: Very Good. Assumed First Edition. 200 Pages Plus Index. There are marginal notes on vii to page 3. A quick thumb thru did not reveal additional marginal notes. Interior text pages are bright, tight, and white. Of the eight varieties of the species, the Amur Tiger is one of the largest and still roams the densely forested Sikhote-Alin Mountains of the Russian Far East, bordering the Pacific Ocean. Will it continue to do so in the future? There is no easy answer, and this book explains why. About half of the chapters give information on the tiger, its biology and behaviour, the country and habitat it lives in, and its relationship with its human neighbours, The final chapters discuss its conservation and prospects. The remaining chapters are stories featuring tigers, and have been translated from the works of Arsenev, Baykov, Zhidenkov and Srnirnov. All the chapters are largely independent, so that they can be read in any order. Additional technical information is provided in Notes, Appendices and References.
