Translated, with Introduction and Notes by Middleton of National Research Council of Canada, Ottawa. With frontispiece half-tone reproduction portrait of Bouguer. This work first appeared as a duodecimo volume in 1729.It was received with general applause by geometricians and physicists, and confirmed the reputation which its author had already earned by several excellent separate papers. Moderate sunning to spine and margins of boards. Library marks limited to cover (two spine labels, label remnant and scarring to upper 2" of front board), inside cover( label, inkstamps, and pocket), and text block edges (inkstamps to all).
