Stamped ocean-scene in black and gold on the cover and spine as well. An attractive binding. A bit of rubbing on the spine and some wear to crown of spine. Overall binding quite nice. No date on the title page. Copyright page dated only 1891. 377 pages. Text block good and tight. Pages evenly toned from age, but no stains, tears, or foxing. The plates, of which there are many, are printed on one side only. (Later editions have two sided printing of the plates.) The plate opposite page 202 had been dogeared; I have unfolded it.
