Beautifully illustrated w/color plates, volume features 8 of Botticelli's paintings leading with The Adoration of the Magi (1475) containing what is believed to be his self portrait. Know for the Primavera and The Birth of Venus, he also spent time painting in Pisa (1474) and the Sistine Chapel (1481). Leonardo da Vinci was 7 years his junior and part of a new generation of painters marking High Renaissance style focusing on realistic depiction of human anatomy, perspective, and landscape. 63 pgs w/color plates; prefatory history precedes Botticelli's works.
