Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. An investigation of the activities of the Ku Klux Klan in the mid-20th-century US, specifically, in Oregon, where, as in the rest of the country, it grew to power on the basis of anti-immigrant sentiment & nativism. Submitted by the author in partial fulfillment of the requirements for his Master of Arts at the University of Oregon in June 1959. He would go on to earn his doctorate in American History at the same institution & teach on these subjects at various universities. He died in 2013. This is a 385-page mimeographed edition of that original thesis, housed in a stiff cardboard report folder. OCLC reports 5 copies at various US university libraries. In Near Fine condition, with slight dust dulling to external edges. Pages unmarked save for a few marginal brackets/checkmarks early in the text. The final page is tearing away from 2 of the 3 holes that secure it within the binder on the left hand side.
