Townsend's survey was commissioned by the Dublin Society and its focus is on Cork County's agricultural economy. Sections cover geography, inhabitants, antiquities, ecclesiastical places, agriculture, and the various baronies. An errata page follows the table of contents. This book gives the reader a historical picture of Ireland in the years leading up to the Great Famine.
