Rare édition parisienne de ce recueil de synonymes latins à l'usage des étudiants ou poètes néophytes. "A l'origine [.] simple rubrique de l'Officina de 1520, les Synonyma quaedam poetica de Textor sont l'objet d'un parcours éditorial tout à fait singulier [.]. Les Synonyma, rapidement détachés de l'Officina et très rarement réintégrés elle par la suite, ont connu une édition indépendante [.], des associations à l'épithaire de Textor sous forme d'annexe ou encore des regroupements avec d'autres instruments lexicographiques. Cet ensemble se compose de plusieurs dizaines de noms propres de peuples, régions du monde ou encore personnages humaines ou divins (Angli, Bacchus, Graecia, etc.) classés par ordre alphabétique. Chaque entrée est pourvue d'un nombre très fluctuant (de un ou plusieurs dizaines) de synonymes utilisés par les poètes latins. Quand le régent [i.e. Textor] les estime difficile pour les étudiants et candidats-poètes censés y recourir dans leurs propres compositions, il accompagne ses listes d'explications sémantiques (souvent l'étymologie). Enfin, comme à son habitude, Textor fournit la plupart du temps des testimonia littéraires illustratifs et des références bibliographiques." Louis Grandin est un imprimeur méconnu du XVIe siècle installé dans le quartier de l'Université à Paris. Son officine, modeste, fut cependant choisie par Ramus pour la publication de ses premiers textes. Grandin débuta en en 1542 et exerça jusqu'en 1559, mais après les Institutionum de Ramus en 1554, il ne produisit plus rien jusqu'en 1558. (cf. G. L'ensemble, innovant et érudit, est au service du public estudiantin de ce tout début XVIe. Le livre se présente sous forme de dizaines de rubriques, dont la première donne sur plus de vingt pages la liste de personnages historiques qui se sont suicidés "Mortem qui sibi variis modis conciverunt, aut se aliis commiserunt occidendos". Suivent de multiples entrées de lectures concernant les divers cas de morts (y compris "Mortui qui revixerunt" avec une petite annotation manuscrite qui ajoute la résurrection du Christ qui semble avoir été oubliée.), les diverses maladies, les médecins célèbres, les bibliothèques mémorables, les amours des dieux et des hommes (cinaedi, paedicones.molles, effoeminati, elegantes .viri muliebrem habitum mentiti.), les "meretrices quaedam", mais aussi les "mulieres doctae", les noms des géants", la liste des différents serpents etc, etc. Rabelais et Montaigne, comme des générations d'étudiants puiseront dans cet "opus varium, multiplex, eruditum" (Pierre Danès), dont on se moquera au XVIIe siècle comme un "fournisseur d'épithètes". Toujours est-il qu'il témoigne d'un trésor d'érudition dans les différents champs du savoir, associant l'héritage de la langue et de la culture latines et l'innovation humaniste. La première édition de l'Officina date de 1520. Textor avait à peine trente ans. Il fut réédité à de multiples reprises jusqu'à la fin du XVIIe siècle.
