James Hogg draws on his personal connection to farming in Scotland in this interesting collection of stories. This includes an impressive selection of 15 plates, including a frontispiece of a portrait of James Hogg. Missing a plate of Erne Cleuch on page 28.Includes an additional illustrated engraved title page. In a half calf binding with marbled boards and bright, marbled fore edge. Externally generally smart. Slight rubbing to the leather, mainly to the extremities, where rubbing has resulted in loss of leather. Some marks on leather particularly rear right hand corner. Slight rubbing on front board. Marks to rear board, resulting in loss to marbling. Offsetting to endpapers. Internally a few scattered spots, mainly to the first and last pages. Pages bright and clean. Missing a plate of Erne Cleuch on page 28. Good. book.
