Near Fine condition in a worn and torn original dust jacket. NOT a library discard. NO owner's name or bookplate. Pages are clean and unmarked. 1956. First Edition. A group of New York bibliophiles, many associated with the Grolier Club, founded this important bindery in 1895. They wanted to obtain a domestic source of bookbindings comparable to the best European work. In time, masterful bindings were executed for Robert Hoe, J. P. Morgan, William Loring Andrews, Beverly Chew, and others. By 1909, the number of wealthy patrons declined to the extent that the bindery had to close. But to this day, the Club Bindery has influenced the practices of hand binders and the tastes of collectors in America. Bound in the original brown boards, stamped in black and embossded with an ornamental flourish. Complete with the publisher's glassine dust jacket, which is chipped at the edges and separated at the spine. First Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine condition/Worn and torn dust jacket. Illus. by NOT a library discard. 8vo. 45pp + 7 plates. Great Packaging, Fast Shipping.
