Sie endet nach dem Pogrom 1938 mit der Ausschaltung der Juden aus dem deutschen Wirtschaftsleben , als jede selbstbestimmte Wirtschaftstätigkeit für Juden in Deutschland aufhörte. Am Beispiel Marburgs wird die Geschichte des jüdischen Erwerbslebens nachgezeichnet. Die meisten der jüdischen Familien Marburgs hatten Gewerbebetriebe, insbesondere Einzelhandelsgeschäfte. Diese waren über die ganze Stadt verteilt. Eine Assimilation, wie in den Großstädten, hatte so gut wie nicht stattgefunden. Vor dem Hintergrund der politischen Entwicklung von 1933 bis zum 6. September 1942, als die letzten Marburger Juden nach Theresienstadt deportiert wurden, werden die einzelnen Lebenswege dieser Bevölkerungsgruppe und das Schicksal ihrer Geschäfte und Unternehmen detailliert dokumentiert. Das Beispiel der Pogrome von 1938 zeigt aber auch, dass deren Funktion nicht generell die Ausschaltung der Juden aus dem deutschen Wirtschaftsleben gewesen sein kann; die jüdischen Geschäfte in Marburg waren bereits zu diesem Zeitpunkt zum größten Teil arisiert oder liquidiert . Auf 297 Seiten schildern die Autoren Barbara Händler-Lachmann und Thomas Werther in dem broschierten Buch die dramatischen Lebensgeschichten der im Landkreis Marburg lebenden Juden 298 Deutsch 720g.

The first volume comprises what is generally considered to be the first modern history of Nova Scotia (1497-1828), while the second contains geographical and statistical information, descriptions of the counties, details respecting population, Indian tribes, political and judicial systems, education, agriculture, trade, and natural history. Haliburton's romanticized portrayal of the Acadians and their expulsion in this work inspired Longfellow's poem Evangeline. The maps and plates, some, if not all, drawn and/or engraved by Charles W.Torbett include a map of the province, plans of Louisbourg (two), the Shubenacadie Canal Line, the proposed Bay Verte and St. Peter's Canals, and views of Halifax from Dartmouth Cove, Province House in Halifax, Front Street in Windsor, and the Port and Part of The Town of Annapolis. A mixed issue set. Volume I is a variant of the second issue, with a further Extract (from the North American Review, dated Jan. 1830) added in the prelims (see Morley). The author's first book. Haliburton is the father of Canadian humor and the author of the clockmaker. This however is a serious history of Nova Scotia from 1497 to 1828. Haliburton's portrayal here of the expulsion of the Acadians became the inspiration for Longfellow's "Evangeline." Rarely are sets found in such fine condition.
