One of a lovely series of classic books for young readers illustrated by famous artists of the day, each with a colorful paper pastedown to the front board & internal art by a noted artist of the day, here, Thomas Fogarty, who contributed the endpapers, color f…rontispiece & 11 full-color, full-page plates throughout the text. A FIRST EDITION, First Printing from 1936 (with the publisher's requisite "A" & appropriate dates), this hardcover book has black cloth-covered boards with a colorful paper pastedown to front cover, unfortunately damaged by water stain in the lower corner toward fore edge. Condition downgraded to Fair because light dampstaining is evident around all page edges, intruding about 1" all around. Front board a bid dented at fore edge as well. Front endpapers show paper residue from being stuck together & separated. Binding is secure, though front hinge is cracked.
