Vintage script for the 1976 Broadway revival of the 1940 Broadway musical. Copy belonging to an unidentified cast or crew member, with their annotations in manuscript pencil throughout, noting characters in each scene. Based on the 1940 epistolary novel by John O'Hara, who also wrote the play book, about a second-rate nightclub singer's life in Chicago. Making its Broadway debut on December 25, 1940, at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre, the production enjoyed the third-longest run of any Rodgers and Hart play. The revival was staged at the Circle in the Square Theatre from June 27 to August 29, 1976, with choreography by Margo Sappington. Basis for the 1957 film starring Frank Sinatra, Rita Hayworth, and Kim Novak. Maroon titled wrappers. Title page present, undated, with credits for Hart, O'Hara, and Rodgers. 83 leaves, with last page of text numbered 2-5-39. Xerographic duplication, rectos only.
