Add to basketPaperback. Condition: Very Good. Printed invitation to the opening night of The Little Fat Black Pussy Cat Club with The Pretty Things as the opening act. 14 cms square , paper with image of black cat. Admission 3 shillings. The club opened its doors at the site on August 14, 1964, with a performance by The Pretty Things and a 'bluebeat discotheque' 3 shillings (with membership card). It was BradfordÕs first independently-run music club and was named after a San Francisco poetry club. The Beatles played an after-hours gig in the clubÕs Old Cellar Bar on Ivegate following a performance at the Gaumont, the former Odeon cinema. The club opened every Friday and Saturday night and Bradford-born singer Kiki Dee reportedly worked in its cloakroom. Other acts which played the venue included Long John Baldry, Zoot Money and Georgie Fame. The Moody Blues played at the club on October 31, 1964, and were paid £55, which was seen as a lot of money at the time. But the club only lasted for nine months following police concerns over potential drug problems and the size of the crowds. The club was owned by Paul Mountain - who bought it from Shirley Crabtree, otherwise known as wrestler Big Daddy. A rather scarce piece of rock and club ephemera in good shape. Very good indeed.…

Lawton which was subsequently adapted into the 1990 film Pretty Woman starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. This copy was made when Vestron Pictures was trying to cast the picture. Bradbound in printed CAA covers. About fine copy with a bit of handling to the covers. From a 2015 article in Vanity Fair magazine by Kate Erbland titled ÒThe True Story of Pretty WomanÕs Original Dark EndingÓ we learn that the screenwriter J.F. Lawton had initially crafted a Ògritty drama, originally called 3,000Ó which Òwas turned into the uber-rom-com Pretty WomanÓ. Erbland goes on to write, ÒLawtonÕs original script still contains many of the classic beats and scenes that people remember from the final film, including a trip to the opera, a series of bad shopping experiences, and that fancy dinner with the kind-hearted businessman whose company he [GereÕs character, Edward] is trying to raid. The characters are mostly the same. But the tone and ending are completely different, and itÕs mostly a relief when Vivian and Edward donÕt end up together, even though the story ends on a decidedly down note. 3,000 ends with Kit [VivianÕs best friend] and Vivian on a bus bound for Disneyland.Ó This script offers fans of Pretty Woman a glimpse into the often circuitous route film development can take. …
