Prof. Riza Kuruüzümcü was born in Kusadasi in 1968. He graduated from the Faculty of Engineering (1985-1990) and from the Vocational School (1990-1991) at Bogaziçi University. He then studied at the Painting Department in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Mimar Sinan University in 1991-1995, and completed his master's degree (1998) and doctoral degree, proficiency in art (2000), in painting at the same university. Since 2000, Kuruüzümcü has worked as an Associate Professor at the Painting Department of Yildiz Technical University. In addition to it, he has served as the director at the Istanbul State Painting and Sculpture Museum, Research and Application Center since 2012. Kuruüzümcü has held many solo exhibitions and has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. He currently lives and works in Istanbul.
