Text in French, English, and Dutch (most of the text is in French and not trilingual; some parts appear to be exclusively in one of the languages or another). Original guest receipt printed in blue ink on light beige paper. Printed on one leaf folded in half vertically. No date, circa 192…0s. 2 1/2" x 3 1/2." Unpaginated, four pages (one leaf folded in half and printed on all sides). Receipt is virtually pristine and intact except for age toning. A Fine copy. An original guest receipt or ticket for a stay at the "Grand Hotel, Terminus-Nord" in Bruxelles (Brussels), Belgium. There is handwriting in pencil that fills in the room number (appears to be "619"), the price ("45"), and number of guests ("2"). The printed text briefly lists rules for guests and some of the costs for services. Some of the text advertises nearby businesses or features of the hotel such as Sandeman Bar and Merry-Grill. The ad on back for Merry-Grill also names, "Chez Lys Gauty," a likely reference to the French cabaret singer and actress, Lys Gauty (1900-1994).

Unframed Print. Condition: Very Good. A single sheet print, image area approx. 18 x 28 cms. With another page containing some accompanying text. Kingâs Cross was built when the Great Northern Railway (GNR) reached London in 1850. A temporary terminus at Maiden Lane opened first, but architect Lewis Cubitt presented plans for a p…ermanent station later that year. The new station opened on 14 October 1852, becoming the southern terminus of the East Coast Main Line, linking London with Yorkshire, the North East, and Scotland. The illustrations found in leading architectural journals of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, such as The Builder, Building News, and The Architect are masterpieces of visual craftsmanship. These illustrations capture the elegance, intricacy, and stylistic flair of the period's architecture. Rich in ornamental detail and atmospheric depth, they reflect not only the buildings themselves but the artistic sensibilities and design discourse of their age. THIS IS AN ORIGINAL PAGE FROM THE JOURNAL, PRINTED AT THE DATE SHOWN IN THE TITLE, NOT A REPRINT OR COPY.
