Original red cloth, spine stamped in gilt. Bottom edge untrimmed. Top edge darkened, leading edge spotted. Lillian A. Taylor's ownership inscription (dated "3.3.09") to ffep, some spotting. Else, clean and tight. Sheaf of publisher's ephemera, plus 1 & 1/2-page hand-written Thoresby High School 'Home Work Exercise,' entitled 'She Stoops to Conquer,' laid in: some toning and creasing at edges of adverts, a few spots. In the original teal dust jacket, lettered and decorated in blue to E. J. Sullivan's design: a little grubby and rubbed, spines ends frayed, some nicking. Very good/ good+ An Edwardian school girl's copy of the attractive Methuen Standard Library edition of The Poems and Plays of Oliver Goldsmith (1905), featuring the unusual E. J. Sullivan-designed dust jacket, a sheaf of publisher's advertising ephemera and Lillian Taylor's homework essay on 'She Stoops to Conquer' for her "Cert 1910 A/ English" class at Thoresby High School, Leeds laid in.
