Las tres obras vienen encuadernados de maneras diversas en diferentes ejemplares. Thomas Tamaio, ó Tamayo (1587-1641), catedrático en la Universidad de Toledo y luego cronista oficial de Castilla. La obra principal en el volumen (y también la última), es una defensa de Mariana contra la dura crítica de Pedro Mantuano (Advertencias a la historia del padre Mariana, 1611). Es el primer libro de Tamaio y ya demuestra su tolerancia de lo 'pintoresco' en la historiografía, también evidente en la segunda obra sobre la visitación a Toledo de la Virgen. Raro en comercio.
