Classic essay commenting on the segregated life and customs amongst whites and African Americans in the Mississippi Delta which Greenville, Mississippi author David Cohn so artfully described as a region which "begins in the lobby of the Peabody Hotel [Memphis] and ends on Catfish Row in Vicksburg." The text is comprised of two sections with Part One "1935" taken from Cohn's 1935 book GOD SHAKES CREATION and Part Two "1947" offering Cohn's insights and observations regarding the region and the various transitions that had occurred over the past twelve year span.
