Excellent full-page colour plates of paintings by G.D. Armour, rough-cut fore and lower edges. Gilt crossed whips motif to red cloth. Cloth stained… and used, spine faded and slightly frayed, foxing. Good reading copy. G.D. Armour takes largish excerpts from R.S. Surtees novel Handley Cross and uses them as a vehicle for a series of narrative illustrations in colour. The illustrations are the usual full-page colour plates printed on glazed white paper, unlike the 1908 edition which has its colour plates tipped to card inserts. .
