First of the Golden Griffin Books designed by Ladislav Sutnar, Czech pioneer of typography, graphics and exhibition design who fled to America and became a leading art director.

Oblong octavo (19 x 20.5 cm), decorated cloth, 212pp. Young reader's essay on life in a rural setting, with watercolors by the author and 21 photos by Sudek, including 8 panoramic photos taking up two pages each. These photos were not published elsewhere. Uncommon, with only four library holdings in North America. Cover lightly soiled, else very good.
