From 1931 To 1938 He Was Professor Of Experimental Physics At The University Of Prague. Shortly Before The Outbreak Of The First World War He Moved To Scotland, Becoming A Research Fellow At Edinburgh University. In 1943 He Was Elected A Fellow Of The Royal Society Of Edinburgh. His Proposers Were Max Born, Robert Schlapp, Ivor Etherington, And James Pickering Kendall. In 1965 He Won The Society'S Keith Medal. In 1947 He Left Edinburgh To Become A Reader In Theoretical Physics At Birkbeck College In London.

Signed on the front cover: "With the compliments of H.C. Lodge." Caleb Strong (1745-1819) was an American lawyer and U.S. Senator from Massachusetts and later the state's governor. He played a key role in the drafting of the U.S. Constitution as a delegate at the Constitutional Convention in 1787. Strong was known for his moderate Federalist views and his efforts to maintain neutrality during the early 19th-century conflicts between Britain and France. Henry Cabot Lodge, Sr. (1850-1924) was a conservative politician from Massachusetts. He served in the United States Senate from 1893 until his death in 1924. He was Senate Majority Leader from 1918-1924, often challenging the Wilson Administration and leading the opposition to the Treaty of Versailles. Signed.
