    Fourth printing (as stated upon copyright page). xiv, 277 pages. Hardcover: H 22.25cm x L 15.25cm. No dust jacket (i.e. lacking). Red cloth with some soiling and light mottling; light scuffing at spine ends and board corners; publisher's gilt imprint at spine heel dulled/flaked but with title/author gilt lettering on front board and upper spine remains bright. Several stains to muted red top edge; deckle fore-edge; light foxing to bottom edge. Illustrated tan endpapers; past owner's ink name stamp on front free endpaper; scattered light foxing to interior pages. With b/w plates on unpaged leaves (frontispiece retains tissue guard sheet). Text block's red top edge foxed; toning to deckle fore-edge. Illustrated tan endpapers; slender tearing of surface paper along front and rear hinges but discreet glue pairs to both; non-authorial six-line ink gift inscription on front flyleaf recto; some toning and/or light staining to initial and rear leaves but interior pages overall remain clean. Binding is firm. Minnesota bookseller ticket "Mabel Ulrich's Book Shop Minneapolis St. Paul Duluth Rochester" affixed at rear pastedown's bottom left. With b/w plates on unpaged leaves (frontispiece retains tissue guard sheet). A Johns Hopkins University-trained medical doctor and health educator, Mabel Simis Ulrich (1876-1945) opened her first bookstore in 1931 (eventually expanding to five stores) and headed the Minnesota Writers' Project during the 1930s. {BookTicketBox#07}.
