Paperback. Condition: Very good in wraps. 17 x 24cm 144pp very good paperback. When artists began to examine the possibilities of mass dissemination and communication of their works, they looked to the 'book as a work of the artist' as a means to effectuate and distribute their ideas. Attracted by the simplicity, functionality, immediacy and democracy of printed material, these artists conceived works for the form and characteristics of the book. The printed publication was a logical place for visual poetry, but it also suited conceptual artists, for whom the sequence of pages was essential for textual and photographic works, which often came into being as a series. Mladen Stilinovic's first books were published in the 1970s. This book consists of examples from his publications through the years, as well as an interview with Stilinovic and an article by Branka Stipancic. With colour plus black and white reproductions.…

Softcover. Condition: Like New. Immediate dispatch from Somerset. Book in excellent unread/unused condition. See images. Fantastic book. About the book >.>.> Vlado Martek started out as a poet, and as he himself says, he had been writing poems since he was fifteen because of girls. He studied literature and philosophy and occasionally showed interest in the visual arts. In 1974 he was ready to "leave books behind". The poetry he was writing no longer satisfied him. Written on paper and left waiting to be printed one day, it was a source of frustration for the impatient artist. He missed having a more direct contact with the audience. With his friends, photographer ?eljko Jerman and then art student Boris Demur, he undertook a night action where they displayed their works on urban poster sites under the railway bridge on Savska Street. Martek posted up one of his poems which for this occasion he had written on a large piece of paper. The intimate act of writing poetry suddenly found itself in a public space and confronted its author with passersby for the first time. This experience stimulated them and soon a larger gathering of artists took place. Inspired by what was happening on the art scenes in Zagre.…
