First edition. Royal octavo. pp xviii, 174. Illustrated with a few examples of printing. Introduction by David Burnett. Green cloth with the image in gilt of a printing press on the front cover. The book is a worthy tribute to the work of the indefatigable Edinburgh printer Alan Anderson. One of 400 numbered copies. This is not one of the first fifty which were issued with the four-page Matthew Arnold poem ''The Buried Life'', numbered and signed by the printer, but it does have the proof copy of the poem, unnumbered but signed. Loosely inserted is an Autograph Letter Signed by Alan Anderson, on his Loanhead writing paper and dated 12.xi.05: about 250 words to someone called James, noting a few minor misgivings about the book (largely prompted by his own modesty) as well as ''the immense amount of work'' Steven Halliwell put into the project. In the letter he also mentions the inclusion of the Arnold item.Fine. No slipcase, as only the first fifty copies were issued with one.…
