The page edges have very slight scattered brown spotting and there is light brown spotting to the first and last pages. The pages and plates are otherwise unmarked. Each part has 11 coloured plates. Parts one, two and three bound in one. Presentation plate on the front endpaper to the Kew botanist Vicki Matthews (Merchant Taylors' school for girls). Copiously illustrated in black and white throughout. Published in 1948-9. Slight rubbing to extremities, otherwise very good.

Final volume of the collection XXVII to XXXI is missing. Parts I-III have some damage to spines which has been repaired the rest are in very good condition with bright illustrations. Also, a loose set of index. Overall, a very good set of these beautiful and comprehensive illustrations. A heavy set which will require extra postage.

Complete set of 31 parts bound in 8 volumes plus the Index volume. 8vo. Neat signature to ffep., of each volume. Contents fine. Original blue cloth boards vg. to nr. fine. Importantly, this set comes with the very useful Index volume. Stella Ross-Craig, who died in February 2006, is said to be the finest and most comprehensive illustrator of British Flora, described by Wilfred Blunt as 'unrivalled' in her field. Her 'Drawings of British Plants' took 26 years to complete and comprises 1,306 plates.

Dated from 1948 to 1974, the earlier volumes are in Acceptable to Good condition with wear to slightly grubby covers and spines, and some light flecking to edges. The later issues are in Good to Very Good condition, and the 'middling' issues are between the two, of course. The interiors of all are clean and bright. The hardback index is in Very Good condition, with similar dustjacket. Overall grading for the set - Good. It is unusual to find the set complete, especially with index, so please note we will not split. Volume XXIX is a first edition 1972. Almost all copies covered in clear laminate, some of the older copies have tape to spine (under the clear laminate). Covers are browned. Neat name in ink to top of front covers. Front endpapers have a small, neat identification number. A few hinges are pulled. Contents are otherwise clean. Packaged with care and promptly dispatched!
