Rilegato. Condition: fine. Venezia, Ca' Pesaro, 7 giugno - 2 settembre 2007.Testo Italiano e Inglese.Bologna, 2007; ril., pp. 112, ill., tavv. col., cm 24x29. In 1980, Italian-born duo Giampaiolo Bertozzi and Stefano Dal Monte Casoni teamed up to form the Bertozzi & Casoni company, making ceramics with a twist. After attending the esteemed Istituto d'Arte per la Ceramica in Faenza, they broke the mold, enlivening the staid medium with a conceptual edge, wry humor and a dose of art history. Their greatest hits include realistic, full-sized versions of classics like Warhol's "Brillo Box" and Manzoni's "Artist's Shit." Not content with just remaking this "cultural trash," they also replicate beautiful, Daniel Spoerri-esque tableaux featuring cafeteria-tray remains and garbage bins. This volume is a rare chance to see Bertozzi & Casoni's oeuvre in its entirety: It was produced for a survey of new and old work at Venice's Galleria Internazionale d'Arte Moderna, which ran concurrently with the 2007 Bienniale. The artists most recently showed their work in New York at Sperone Westwater gallery. Libro.…

Their partnership has resulted in a vast production of art in these 30 years distinguished by executive perfection, technical assertiveness and conceptual sophistication.Masters of doubt, they present works that are iconographically improbable but highly credible because of their powerful presence and disturbing allusions. They communicate with one another and alternate in a constant play of references, staging a representation whose ostentation is worthy of the grand baroque or melodramatic theatre, and whose clarity of language is equal to the calculated verbal engineering of the weightiest narrators of the past century.Architect, lecturer, researcher and critic, Franco Bertoni has over the years turned his studies mainly to neo-classical architecture, Italian and European 20th-century art and ceramics, minimalism and modern architecture. Since 2003 he has been director of the modern and contemporary collections at the Museo Internazionale delle Ceramiche in Faenza. …
