Fronted by vocalist Maddy Prior MBE (born 1947), Steeleye Span were one of the most commercially successfull acts in the 1970s British folk revival, 1970s British folk revival, with four UK Top 40 albums and two hit singles. Along with their contemporaries/collaborators Fairport Convention and Jethro Tull, they remain one of the most enduring groups from the late 1960s rock era.
