Add to basketNo Binding. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. This is an interesting old newspaper headline poster from 1974 referring to the Milhench Scandal which was often referred to as the "Wilson Letter Forgery" or the "Ince-in-Makerfield deal," which was a 1974 British political scandal involving Ronald Milhench, a property dealer and insura…nce broker from Wolverhampton. Ronald Milhench forged the signature of the then-British Prime Minister, Harold Wilson, on House of Commons notepaper in a plot to facilitate a property deal. The forged letter was part of a larger effort to manipulate public opinion during a tense election year. Amidst the unfolding scandal, Milhench's wife, Kathleen, died in February 1974 after a car he was driving plunged into Chasewater Lake in Staffordshire. Despite admitting to doubling his wife's life insurance just prior to the accident, a jury returned a verdict of accidental death. In November 1974, Milhench was jailed for three years for forgery and fraud. Milhench served 17 months of his sentence before being released. THE POSTER The poster measures 29 inches by 19 inches approx. CONDITON The poster has been stored folded with crease lines, some marking and staining, creasing, and minor loss. Poster will be posted folded along existing fold lines. This is a lighter item, overseas shipping costs will be reduced at checkout where possible.
