Der aus proletarischen Verhältnissen stammende Boris Souvarine (1895-1984), ein französischer politischer Aktivist und Schriftsteller russisch-jüdischer Herkunft, war seit 1920 einer der Protagonisten des französischen Komitees der dritten Internationale (Comité de la Troisième Internationale). Dadurch forcierte Souvarine die Ausrichtung der französischen Sozialistischen Partei SFIO in Richtung einer marxistisch-revolutionären Linie. Dies führte zum Austritt der SFIO aus der Zweiten Internationale. Bereits 1921 führender Funktionär der in Gründung befindlichen Kommunistischen Partei Frankreichs (PCF), wurde Souverine ein Präsidiumsmitglied der Kommunistischen Internationale ( Komintern ). Souvarine stand Leo Trotzki nahe und wandte sich ab 1924 gegen den mechanischen, bürokratischen und unverantwortlichen Zentralismus innerhalb der französischen kommunistischen Bewegung. Daraufhin gab das Parteiorgan L Humanité am 19. Juli 1924 Souvarines Ausschluss aus der Dritten Internationale bekannt. In der Folgezeit machte er sich einen Namen als entschiedener Gegner der Bürokratisierungstendenzen innerhalb der kommunistischen Bewegung. Souvarine war Gründungsmitglied des Cercle communiste démocratique und rief mit anderen Akteuren die Zeitschrift La Critique sociale ins Leben. Seine 1935 erschienene kritische Stalin-Biographie gilt als bahnbrechende Studie. Souvarine wurde 1940 in Marseille von der Vichy-Regierung verhaftet, konnte aber noch in die USA emigrieren. Nach seiner Rückkehr nach Frankreich (1948) war er weiter als unabhängiger linker Publizist tätig. Umschlag leicht lichtrandig und gebräunt. 250 gr.…
