Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. Helen Sobell was married to Morton Sobell, convicted for spying for the USSR. Includes 3 illustrations by Rockwell Kent. Laid in is a mimeographed note indicating this is a review copy. 6" x 9", 20pp (unpag.). Printed on alkaline paper and saddle stitched in an uncoated printed card stock cover. There is a 1" x 1/2" water droplet stain at the top edge of the front cover. Otherwise, age discoloration, light soiling, light edge wear to cover, and the top fore corner is lifting. At the tail of the front cover is printed 'In Appreciation' next to which Sobell has signed her name. Each poem is dated between 1959 & the last & title poem 1964. Included are poems for her incarcerated husband Morton, the 85th birthday of A.A. Heller (founder of International Publications), on night of the execution of Caryl Chessman as well as a conflation of her own & Ethel Rosenberg's fates entitled In Memoriam. Sobell was the wife of Morton Sobell, sentenced to 30 years for spying for the USSR in WW2. She campaigned tirelessly to get his sentence overturned, and also to save the Rosenbergs, co-charged with Morton, from execution. The Sobells had been members of the Young Communist League.
