Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Oblong 4to. Bound in publishers pictorial boards. 70 pages. Fully illustrated in black and white line drawings by Winifred Smith in a similar style to Walter Crane and Arthur Gaskin, typical of the Arts and Crafts movement. It was during this period that Gustave Dore 'London' published 1872,20 years earlier. made a huge impact on London Society changing attitudes to the poor in London slums. The author, in the preface, hopes the songs will 'reduce the inequalities always perceptible on the village green, and still more so in the streets, and to arrive at good singing and good acting without losing one bit of the frolic and charismatic 'go' that to London slum children.' Cover slightly dusty otherwise in very Good condition . Size 22 x 24cm [8.5 x 9.25 Inches). Winifred Smith (illustrator).
