A Civil War regimental history compiled by Suzanne Colton Wilson from the letters, diaries, and later recollections of two brothers who served in the unit, Matthias Baldwin Colton and William Francis Colton; J. The 15th Pennsylvania Cavalry (also called the Anderson Cavalry) was an independent mounted regiment that began service in the East around Antietam and then spent most of the war attached to the Army of the Cumberland, performing scouting, escort, courier, and raid duties. The narrative follows the men through Stones River, the Tullahoma campaign, Chickamauga, the siege and battles around Chattanooga, operations in East Tennessee and Alabama, and the closing 1865 cavalry movements that culminated in the pursuit of Jefferson Davis. The book is richly illustrated with photographs, portraits, drawings, and folding maps and includes a muster roll and index.
