Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Wyeth, N. C. (illustrator). First Thus. Thrilling story for young readers of Scotland in the days of knights & castles & quests. Orig. published in 1810, this 1921 edition (1923 printing) from Scribners is one of a lovely series of classic books for young readers illustrated by famous artists of the day, here, N. C. Wyeth, who contributed 14 full-page, full-color plates, title page illustration, & colorful endpapers here. In 503 pages, this hardcover has black cloth-covered boards with colorful front paper pastedown, lettered in gilt to spine. Condition is VG: very clean overall with the random smudge or spot scattered thru text & a tiny ink notation inside front cover. Binding strong & straight, both hinges secure. Plates bright & richly colored, margins mildly-moderately tanned. Exterior shows modest rubbing to extremities, with slight bumping to corners & spine tips. Small area of white paint (?) to bottom edge of front cover, with a few spots on bottom edge of text block. NO DJ.
