Edited by Vifquain's great great grandson and historian Phillip Tucker, the memoir documents Vifquain and two others attempt to kidnap Confederate President Jefferson Davis. The three men, formerly of d Epinequil's Zouaves, rode into Richmond, but are captured and later paroled. Later in the war Vifquain won the Medal of Honor at Fort Blakely. After the war he served at the US consul on Columbia and was a regimental commander in the Spanish American War. Very good copy of the stated first edition in a very good dust jacket. 182 pages.
