Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Good +. First Edition. 1st edition hardcover published in London by B.T. Batsford LTD, 1936. Red cloth covered boards with black titles show lightly bumped extremities, hinge papers fine, no names, tears or soil. Original dj in new mylar shows color loss in rear gutter area, repaired half inch loss at spine ends and corresponding light fade marks on cloth, plus a repaired 1" x 2" chip at gutter/top edge of rear panel but book still displays well with wrap-around color hunt scene art. The book is divided into two sections: The first deals with the subject in general and in history, and shows its place in English life; The second reviews the chief hunting grounds in detail, with accounts of famous packs and the sports shown in their several countries. The volume is well illustrated depicting every aspect of English hunting, and also scenery, while a series of 10 plates in color reproduces the work of great sporting artists such as Alken, Wolstenholme, and Ferneley.…
