Sir Aston writes as immediate past President of the Royal Academy of Arts to the RA's Treasurer, the artist Sir Frank Short: My dear Short, Will you k…indly express to the Members of Council of the General Assembly my great regret at not being present this evening. My doctor came this morning and laid it down that it would be dangerous for me to go out in a bad fog. I have hoped all day it would disappear but instead it has got worse so to my great regret must give it up. I am sorry to put this extra burden on you. Yours sincerely, Aston Webb. Sir Aston Webb, 1849 - 1930 was a British architect who designed the principal facade of Buckingham Palace and the main building of the Victoria and Albert Museum, among other major works around England, many of them in partnership with Ingress Bell. He was president of the Royal Academy from 1919 to 1924. He was also the founding chairman of the London Society. Size is 168mm x 128mm. In good condition with folding creases. Ref 18992.
