Consists of stiff cardboard fold open slipcase, approximately 9 1/2 x 8 inches, containing an explanatory booklet and 12 laid-in 9 1/4 x 7 1/2 inch sheets of parchment (paper) with pasted on color drawings (measuring 4x3 inches) of various scenes in Jerusalem, apparently intended for framing, with the 5 pencil drawings on the covers of the case and in-text. Very good. Outside edge of case crushed, with a 1/2 x 1 inch piece of cardboard off top edge, minor shelf wear on booklet and drawings, otherwise tight, clean, paper crisp, unmarked. Paperback. Condition: Very Good. Curt Singer (illustrator). First edition. A charming selection of plates depicting Tel Aviv, with commentary by Theodor F. Meysels. In the original landscape portfolio. Disbound, as issued. With an introductory leaflet and twelve tipped in colour plates. Collated complete. Twelve miniatures in colour, by Czech artist Curt Singer. Singer was known for his oil on canvas works depicting daily life and city scenes. This charming collection depicts the landscape of Tel Aviv, including the Jemin Moshe, Mount Moriah and Damascus Gate. With commentary by Theodor F. Meysels, an Austrian journalist. In the original landscape portfolio. Disbound as issued. Externally sound with spotting to the wraps. Slight chipping to the extremities. Internally disbound as issued. Scattered spotting, heavier to the introductory leaflet. Plates remain generally clean with just the occasional spot. Very Good. book.

A set of 12 plates contained in original portfolio, lettered and illustrated. Each plate is a tinted line-drawn illustration printed from at least 2 blocks. A list of captions, both in English and Hebrew, identifies the view on each plate. In about fine condition. ~ FIRST EDITION. The quality of the plates is very high. Printed by the students at the Hadassah Apprentice School of Printing in Jerusalem. The portfolio contains views of Jerusalem and environs, 13 at all including the cover illustration. Curt Singer, painter, educated in Hamburg, Berlin, and Paris. Born in 1905 in Czechoslovakia he immigrated in 1935 to Israel where he soon establishe himself as a painter. Died in 1989. Y-3 OUT.
