An archive of response letter received by Alberta Sinclair-Butler from various government officials in the early 1980s. Many of the letters are responding to Sinclair-Butler's comments and concerns regarding recent budget decisions, social security issues, and social services programs. Members of the Senate and Congress from Alberta's home state of Mississippi are represented here including Thad Cochran, John C. Stennis, George P. Smith, Dennis Dollar, and James R. Jones. State Senator, George P. Smith, writes "Thank you so much for your note of 5-21-80 thanking me for an increase in the retired teacher's retirement plan. I hope this, in some small way, will help you and others who have to live on a fixed income during this time of inflation and spiraling costs." A modest but interesting collection of letters documenting the political interests of a retired African-American teacher.
