Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh has set the target to achieve the total sanitation by 2010, far ahead of international development goal of achieving sanitation for all in the year 2025. This target can only be achieved by ensuring the sustainability of sanitation where behavioral change will be the driving force. Ignorance to sanitation was mainly viewed into the rural people of Bangladesh due to the lack of awareness, poor education and economic status. From the study it becomes evident that the sanitation situation of rural areas of Bangladesh particularly in Dhamrai is not yet sustainable. The situation is far behind from what we want to achieve. But it is a good sign that awareness and realization and perception about health, hygienity, environment and safety is growing up among the people gradually, indicated by their rapid behavioral change. 108 pp. Englisch.
