Sir Wilfred Thomason Grenfell (1865-1940) was a British physician, medical missionary, author, and social reformer best known for his work in Newfoundland and Labrador. Trained at the London Hospital Medical College, Grenfell joined the Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen and was sent to Labrador in 1892, where he established medical services for isolated fishing communities along the coast. His work expanded from medicine into hospitals, nursing stations, orphanages, schools, cooperatives, and industrial projects, eventually becoming the International Grenfell Association. Grenfell wrote widely about Labrador life and mission work, including Vikings of To-Day, Adrift on an Ice-Pan, and Tales of the Labrador, and was knighted in 1927 for his medical and humanitarian service. Warren King Moorehead (1866-1939) was an American archaeologist and writer, primarily known for his work in the field of Native American archaeology. Born in Siena, Italy, he grew up in Xenia, Ohio. Moorehead was the first curator of the Department of Archaeology at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, where he worked from 1901 until his death in 1939. He played a significant role in early archaeological explorations and excavations in the United States, particularly in the Ohio Valley. Moorehead was involved in the excavation of the Hopewell Mound Group in Ross County, Ohio, and his work contributed to the understanding of the Hopewell culture. He published numerous articles and books on archaeology, including "The Stone Age in North America" (1910) and "The American Indian in the United States" (1914). His methods, typical for his time, have been criticized in later years for their lack of scientific rigor and documentation. Signed.
