Hardcover. Condition: Used - Very Good. Claude Monet found inspiration in the rose-covered trellises, wild rambles of nasturtiums, and idle drift of water lilies in the gardens of Giverny outside Paris. So too did Stephen Shore who photographed the gardens one hundred years later after their painstaking restoration. Commissioned by The Metropolitan Museum of Art to photograph the renascence of the gardens, Shore visited Giverny over six years beginning in 1977. Going to the gardens before dawn and leaving after dusk, in different seasons, he came to know them in all the moods and textures that inspired Monet. Shore's fidelity to the gardens' plenitude and his desire to present the abstract beauty of nature result in exquisitely serene photographs that express the essence of Giverny. Essays by Gerald Van der Kemp and Daniel Wildenstein. Introduction by John Rewald. wrapped in complimentary Brodart dust jacket protector. Very nice clean, tight copy free of any marks.…

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. "Ninth Printing: 2001" of a book originally published 1992. The name "Donald H. 'Pee Wee Gaskins Jr." appears to be written by hand in ink horizontally to an otherwise blank preliminary page. However, as this "signature" is perfectly horizontally centered, and perfectly horizontal -- and because Gaskins was executed in 1991, the year before this book was first published -- we believe this "signature" may be printed in all copies and doubt this is a "live" author signature. 222 pp. followed by 22 pp. Epilogue and Author's Notes by Wilton Earle and 12 pp. B&W photos of Earle and some of his young victims. As with all our items priced $90 or higher, this book will be shipped "signature required." Now reduced from $182. Photo Restorations: Gerald Shore Studios (illustrator).…

Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Over-sized (quarto). Bound in photo pictorial stiff card covers. No wear to the covers. The extreme upper fore-edge corner of the front cover appears to be clipped. This feature may be part of the original design, as I can think of no reason why someone would clip the corner. Pages are tight and clean with no marks. No name of the previous owner. No musty odor. No tobacco odor. No water damage. No soiling. No sun fading. The book has a number of extra embellishments, which after almost 60 years have become fugitive. The balloon for instance has deteriorated over time and where it is located the pages are stuck together. The dodecahedron laid in on the title page with some offsetting to the title page. Castle pop-up works. Red accordion is almost in half. Airplane pop-up works. Chelsea girls disc on spring. Sealed pages seals broken. Music record is present but loose from its tab. Folding triple page nose photo fine. Hunt's tomato paste pop-up works. Moisture sensitive tabs missing. We are happy to provide photos and additional information to interested parties. Photographs by Nat Finkelstein, Christopher Cerf. Alan Rinzler, Gerald Harrison, Akhito Shirakawa and particularly David Paul (illustrator).…
