ALSO PRESENT is a laid in note from the publisher, between the frontispiece and the title page, indicating the following: "The proof-sheets of this "Life" were revised at Menton [sic] under Mr. Spurgeon's supervision, during his last illness: and a final chapter has been added, to carry the history down to the date of his death." This laid-in note would seem to provide ample proof that this is the first printing. 316 pp. viii advertisements. Maroon beautifully illustrated boards with elaborate gilt titles on cover and spine.
