He was a poet, novelist and short story writer who was associated with American expatriate writers in Paris during the 1930s. He was a Marxist and was active in the left-wing underground in Paris during the Nazi occupation.…

Quarter black cloth and three-quarter wood grain paper-covered boards. xii, 92pp. Spotted to the head edge and slightly rubbed along the tail, the spine text faded (though legible) and the spine ends bumped, just a little spotting to the prelims and with brief pencilled annotations in some upper corners (for example ticks), but towards Very Good overall in lesser jacket (in removable plastic sleeve), rather spotted primarily at the edges and spine, which is faded (not affecting the text), also rubbed with splits and small chips mainly at the corners.…

[John Joseph] Sherry Mangan (1904-1961) was a Trotskyist writer and poet whose first published novel, Cinderella Married, lampooned the social conventions of the rich and was based on his experiences tutoring the prominent Garland family. We find no other copies available in commerce with just over a dozen institutional copies found via OCLC.…
