Add to basketSoft cover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. First Edition (SD). 'An examination of the Post Liberation Problem of the Position of Central and Eastern European Nations in a free European Community'. This book was previously owned by former Assistant Secretary Of War and High Commissioner of Postwar Germany, John J. McCloy. Alt…hough the book does not contain his name, inside there was a signed and typed letter to Mr. McCloy from the Deputy Director of the European Integration Study Project, F. Lawrence Babcock, on the stationary of the Free Europe Committee. The last paragraph states that Dr. Thorbecke 'and all of us associated in this enterprise would be deeply grateful to have your opinion of this work, whether favorable or critical.' The letter is dated October 4, 1954. I have a growing number of listed books that were previously owned by Mr. McCloy, some of which are inscribed to him. These books were purchased directly from his home some years ago. The book condition is very good. You can see the covers in the photos provided. They have age toning on the spine, on the margins of the front, and more so on the rear. There are a few small areas of scuffing and a crease just off the top corner of the rear cover. This crease has resulted in a very light crease off the top corner of the latter pages in the book. I'm not seeing any other creasing, no turned-down corner creases, etc. The book is solidly bound from cover to cover. The pages are nicely tight throughout. They are also exceptionally clean. Scrolling through, I'm not finding any soiling at all. Nor are there any markings. There are no attachments of any kind. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. So the interior of the book, the pages, are in excellent shape.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - 'Agricultural Education in the United States' offers a comprehensive and scholarly analysis of the institutional frameworks and pedagogical strategies that defined the training of farmers and agricultural scientists during the early 20th century. Whitney H. Shepardson provides an in-depth e…xploration of the evolution of agricultural instruction, tracing its journey from informal practice to a rigorous scientific discipline supported by national policy. The work focuses significantly on the role of land-grant colleges and the integration of agricultural science into the American university system. Shepardson examines the relationship between federal funding, state initiatives, and the actual curricula designed to modernize the nation's primary industry. Through this study, the author highlights the sociopolitical motivations behind the professionalization of farming and the creation of extension services aimed at elevating rural productivity and status. This work serves as a vital historical record of the transition toward science-based agriculture in America. It is an essential resource for historians of education, researchers of agrarian history, and anyone interested in the foundational structures that propelled the United States to the forefront of global agricultural innovation and research. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
