The spine's stitching has stained the page folds yellow. Endpapers are cracked over the hinges; front endpaper has 3 stains, up to 3/4 in., and other, lighter soiling. She was married to Ernest Thompson Seton, one of the founding members of The Boy Scouts of America, and they divorced in 1935. Their daughter, Anya, born in 1907, also became a well known author.
