Die quanti tativen un…d strukturellen Veränderungen der Leistungsströme sind aufschlußreich sowohl für die Entscheidungen der Unternehmer als auch für die der Träger der staatlichen und überstaatlichen Wirtschaftspolitik. Aber auch für die Fundierung wirtschafts theoretischer Aussagen sind die Ergebnisse der empirischen Forschung von erheblicher Bedeutung. Den Investitionen als den entscheidenden Bestimmungsgrößen für die konjunk turelle und strukturelle Entwicklung gilt deshalb in diesem Zusammenhang ein besonderes Interesse. Im Bereich des privaten Kapitalexports handelt es sich hierbei im wesentlichen um die beiden Hauptformen, d. h. um die Portfolio-Investitionen und um die Direktinvestitionen. Im internationalen privaten Kapitalexport hat sich nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg ein struktureller Wandel ergeben. Das Schwergewicht verlagerte 1 sich von den Portfolio-Investitionen, die im wesentlichen nur wegen des Kapitalertrages getätigt werden, auf die Direktinvestitionen, bei denen neben dem Ertragsmotiv vor allem der Gesichtspunkt der Einflußnahme relevant ist. Ohne an dieser Stelle auf den Begriffsinhalt der Direktinvestition näher eingehen zu wollen (vgl. dazu das erste Kapitel), soll hier nur festgestellt werden, daß es sich dabei nicht allein - manche Darstellungen könnten diesen Eindruck entstehen lassen - um monetären Kapitalexport handelt; vielmehr wird auf diese Weise ein recht heterogenes Bündel von Leistungen transferiert, und zwar neben Geld- und Realkapital auch unternehmerisches und technisches Kapital in Formvon technisch wirtschaftlichem know-how im weitesten Sinne.
