Volume Two contains Cities of the Plain; The Captive; The Sweet Cheat Gone; and The Past Recaptured, the first three of which were translated by Moncrieff, and the last one by Andreas Mayor, replacing the shorter translation by Frederick Blossom in the first edition. Both volumes are in Very Fine condition. Appears Unread. No slipcase included. No Dust Jackets (as issued). BOTH VOLUMES: The Text Blocks are clean, white, tight, straight and square, with deckled fore-edges and no markings of any kind. The Bindings are full tan cloth, color uniform throughout, with the author's initials, black, in a circle to the front board bright gilt and black titles, etc., to each spine, unmarked white endpapers, and all corners square and sharp. See the accompanying photos. VOLUME ONE: xv, 1141 pages. VOLUME TWO: 1140 pages. Each is 5 7/8" x 8 5/8". This two-volume edition is a translation from the French of A la recherche du temps perdu, a seven volume work, the individual volumes of which are entitled, Du Cote de chez Swann; A L'Ombre des jeunes filles en fleurs; Le cote de Guermantes; Sodome et Gomorrhe; La prisoniere; Albertine disparue; and Le temps retrouve.
