4to. pp. Title, iv, [1], double page hand coloured map of the world in two hemispheres, [4], 18 double page hand tinted tables. Three quarter sheep, printed boards, some light internal damp marking, final end paper and inner board stained. The end paper bears an inscription "J. Allen from the Rev. A. Bloxam as a reward of merit. Augt. 1866." A rare anonymous textbook located at the BL and Edinburgh University only. The Rev. Andrew Bloxam [1801 - 87] was a clergyman and naturalist with a particular interest in botany, who made significant contributions to the study of natural history in Leicestershire and Warwickshire where he held various clerical posts.
