A superb copy of the vanishingly rare true first edition (Rider & Co) of Edouard Schuré's Occult classic study that traces the evolution of human spirituality from ancient Egyptian mysteries to the inception of Christianity, exploring the "secret history" of mankind's spiritual evolution. This is one of those remarkable finds, a lovely copy of an Occult classic in wonderful condition, in the first edition, which hardly ever comes up for sale. No date is printed but almost certainly 1928 is accurate. Schuré was a renowned occultist mystic author. The work is translated by respected translator Eva Martin. The book is in superlative condition. Pages are all clean and bright: no inscriptions, no markings, no notes or labels, no tanning, pretty much spotless. Binding is excellent. Black boards are clean and square, and gilt lettering to spine is clear. Related book adverts to rear. Illustrated.
